We are seeking an experienced Senior User Experience (UX) Specialist to support a high-visibility federal software modernization and user advocacy initiative. This individual will help establish repeatable, user-centered approaches for understanding operational needs and translating those needs into practical improvements to software products and the broader product delivery lifecycle.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead user research, stakeholder interviews, discovery sessions, needs assessments, and usabilityevaluations across complex enterprise applications.

  • Develop personas, user journeys, workflow maps, and other research artifacts that identify user needs, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Translate qualitative and quantitative research into actionable findings, product requirements, backlog inputs, and recommendations.

  • Assess current UX practices and help establish repeatable UX standards, processes, templates, and toolkits.

  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions with end users, product teams, developers, business stakeholders, and government leadership.

  • Evaluate representative applications and workflows to validate the practicality and effectiveness of proposed UX approaches.

  • Champion user advocacy throughout the software product lifecycle and help ensure technology decisions remain aligned with operational and mission needs.

  • Collaborate closely with program management, learning and enablement, product, and technical teams.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in UX, user research, human-centered design, service design, or a related field, including experience operating at a senior or lead level.

  • Demonstrated expertise in user research, journey mapping, usability testing, workflow analysis, requirements definition, and stakeholder facilitation.

  • Experience working with complex enterprise software, digital modernization programs, or technology-enabled transformation initiatives.

  • Ability to synthesize complex information and translate research findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and executive communication skills.

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including product managers, developers, business analysts, trainers, and operational users.

  • Bachelor's degree in UX, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Psychology, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

PREFERRED

Experience supporting federal government or mission-driven organizations, Section 508/accessibility practices, software modernization, product management, or organizational change and adoption initiatives.

Candidates must be able to satisfy applicable client background, suitability, credentialing, and facility-access requirements and be able to travel periodically to Kearneysville, West Virginia and other customer locations as required.
